Joe Starr - Big West Racing
The Modifieds have maintained an incredibly high level of racing throughout the year and this night's Main Event was no exception. After the B-Main, 21 of the best drivers filled up the track for the Main and the competition was extreme. Current points leader Brett Smith of Fort Morgan, took the lead on the first lap coming from the second row. Eddie Belec Jr. of Lakewood, started beside Smith in the second row, but dropped back in the first four laps. By lap five, Belec had come back to second position and from then on it was the Smith and Belec show as Belec was in white-hot pursuit of Smith. It was nose-to tail, neck-and-neck, and side-by-side racing until Belec got around Smith coming to the white flag. Belec held the lead on the checkered flag lap to take a huge win. Belec celebrated his win from the top of his car, while Smith accepted second place. Belec's stable-mate, Dominic Ursetta of Arvada, was third.
